Award winning DoP, Jonathan Grevsen, brings the aesthetics and realism of photojournalism into the world of cinematography. Developing his own film and studying the art of photography, he knew at a very young age that the realm of imagery would be his path forward.
Jonathan spent many years working with documentary and portrait photography and in 2008, he was accepted at the prestigious university DMJX in Denmark. As a part of his studies he worked for 1,5 year at the famous newspaper El Periodicó de Catalunya shooting pictures of many various kinds and genres. Including shoots with Shakira and Ferran Adria.
When he graduated in 2012, Jonathan had already been exploring the cinema world, shooting music videos and documentaries as well as a number of passion projects.
Since then, Jonathan has worked with many big brands such as Vans, Levi’s and Alis creating distinctive commercials with his personal style and aesthetics. Jonathan has a unique way of capturing emotions and knows how to convey those emotions to the audience.
“For me, as a cinematographer, it is those universal emotions that makes us feel connected with each other. I try to capture those emotions and focus my work around the power they represent”
Jonathan’s work combines realism with illusion and he aims to always bring poetry into his imagery. He believes that the essence of a story lies between what is real and what is not. That gap is where our imagination takes over and a story can unfold and inspire us to take action.
